-Anika on GPY Prenatal Yoga Series

“The classes have been an anchor in my week and the one place where I feel a sense of community and normalcy around other mothers-to-be. We have started to exchange phone numbers and are giving each other valuable tips or a listening ear.”

-Stephanie on GPY Workshops

“I really love how workshops are a time to play, explore, and focus on elements of yoga. The insights I’ve gleaned often shift my perspective on poses, flow, the mind, or area of the body. And workshops are simply fun. ”

  • Abby began practicing yoga while pursuing her college degree in Philosophy and Religion with a concentration in Eastern religion. Yoga provided not only a sense of spiritual peace, but also a physical peace by relieving chronic low back pain Abby had experienced since high school. When she moved to Portland after graduating, she began working at a preschool, finding her true calling to be those children with severe behavioral and developmental delays. The physicality of her position took quite a toll on Abby’s back, and so she rediscovered yoga at Greener Postures. The heat was intimidating at first- but upon leaving her first class, she was sold- and hasn’t looked back. After completing her 200 hour training in the spring of 2013, Abby has enjoyed teaching in both indoor and outdoor spaces. She particularly enjoys specialized yoga practices- pre- and post-natal, children’s yoga, and meditation are just a few of her yogic interests. She would like to thank all of her teachers and fellow Sacred Seeds grads as well as everyone at Greener Postures for the opportunity to be a part of the wonderful yoga community of southern Maine!

  • As a former dancer, Jess has always appreciated the art of movement. Deepening her yoga practice over the years provided Jess with many gifts that she wished to share with others, so she enrolled in a 200-hour YTT intensive at Kripalu during the summer of 2023. For Jess, yoga is an opportunity to harmonize the mind and body through meditative movement. Her goal is for students to leave her class with a smile—feeling more connected to their breath, body, and soul.

“I have scoliosis and my back bothers me everyday, however from muscle strength from yoga the discomfort is significantly less. I cannot imagine what it would be like without it.”
